Cochran provided Design/Build Communications and Electrical services for this 200,000 square foot leading edge OM4 all fiber optic cable distribution data center. Our team worked with the customer to define solutions for cabinets, cabling, CDU, and communications design. One of the major design innovations in the system is the ability to patch any port anywhere from a single centralized point. We discovered during the design process that there was no effective solution readily available on the market. Our design saved the customer approximately $1.5 million and provided a centralized and redundant Fiber Main Distribution Point that had the flexibility and capacity to patch over 80,000 fiber optic patch cords. This system design ensures manageable infrastructure for the next 20 years.

Cochran’s electrical team was called in after holes were found in the overhead support and grounding design and solidified the design and ultimately built the entire overhead grid, and installed the lighting and ground systems for both data halls.

As the project progressed it became apparent that the schedule was in real jeopardy due to other trades’ delays. Because the success of our customers is one of our top goals, Cochran’s data center team did whatever it took to reduce our installation schedule from 18 to 8 weeks in order to make the customer’s production date.
